Valladolid, Segovia, (1)

Valladolid, Segovia, (1)

I now go back in time to telling you a little of what I did when I left Vigi's after walking to Cuadonga. I go by bus to Segovia and Avilla. I caught the coach from Oveido bus station
stopping on the way at Valladolid for the night. I found this also a city worth a look

This poor bronze has a well polished thingy I noticed his friend the other side the other way up was less shiny!

For the Madrid Camino that I think comes through here

The weather was worse as I left next morning

The aqueduct is incredible . I had painted this many years ago before seeing it for real and Josie has that painting I think. But here are a few of the photos I took of it.

on  arrival climbed the hill into the old town and found an old but good hostel in the Plaza Mayor and for a week walked this wonderful city taking photos and exploring it narrow streets.

Near here I discovered a wonderful restaurant and spoiled myself with a superb meal

Yes I had the right place and the right day- this was today's special !!!!

My room was up there, on the first floor of this quaint old apartment overlooking the plaza
I started to explore the city

Back down to the Aqueduct

up and around to the top of the hill to the lower arch sections. I read that the water still ran along the top till the seventies. No cement between those stones!

and back round to the tallest part again

And up the other side!

The market was fun too with lots of yummy food stalls

and the music and players enjoyed their work entertaining the crowds.

Still fun to be had here street dancing to the jota

One day there was a painting competition on while I was there and it was very good. In a very short time large canvases were covered with great art. Unfortunately that was a day when I had left the camera behind!

Back to my room for I am tired but the night is young for the Spanish

Next day I found an even smaller street with the amazing plasterwork,

then the huge castle! That I never did get to see inside!

Not many people wandering the streets today

I found a different view from the Aqueduct

No room in the rucksack for a trumpet

More tiny streets with good eating places

Said a prayer for my loved ones and friends

Always something to see

and eat with good wine although it did cost me twice as much today but a grand meal. Only a few customers in the restaurant but the bar below was crowded.

The Band stand in the Plaza and a better shot of my room

Well that will do for now. I will put more photos of this beautiful city of Segovia. Now go to number 2
Bye for Now
Abrazos
